This Westchester residence, originally built in 1927, had grown and changed through the years whereby its front and back appeared to belong to two different houses. The rooms within the house seemed disconnected from the land and the layout did not meet the requirements of the new owners.
The renovation was extensive. All the systems in the house were replaced; the layout was formalized to regain the fluidity lost over the years. The exterior of the house incorporated materials that were part of the original house, such as stone, plaster and slate. The general feeling of the house is one of simplicity, order, light and it possesses a clear dialog with the land around it.
