Perched atop a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this 8,000 square foot residence is composed of five pavilions that are interconnected by limestone terraces, pergolas and lush tropical vegetation. Completed in 2001, the emphasis was placed on creating an "inside/outside" relationship between the structures, the surrounding landscape and the ocean. The design incorporates the Bermudian stepped, white washed coral stone roof, mahogany awning windows and French doors accented with Indus Gold stone sills.
The double-height entrance of the main house is framed in Texas shell stone and showcases the vistas to the ocean. The structure houses the living room, formal dining room, library, master bedroom suite and a sun-filled breakfast room that opens out to an outdoor dining terrace. The round family room commands breathtaking views of the cliffs and a private pink sand beach. This is a casual meeting point that connects the main house to the guest/pool house, consisting of 4 bedrooms and a pool lounge. The L-shaped pool, which wraps around the guest pavilion, has generous Jerusalem limestone steps complemented by Provençal handmade tiles of the same hue. Partially shaded by a mahogany pergola, the pool deck extends to the edge of the cliff.
The professional kitchen is housed in an adjoining building. The groundskeepers' quarters, garage and laundry facilities are nearby. The concept of the individual pavilions allows the residence to be fully or partially utilized depending on occupancy.
