In this highly competitive commercial office market, Brookfield Financial Properties commissioned the redesign of their main lobby, the elevator cabs, elevator lobbies, and multi-tenant corridors of this class A office building. The intent was to give the building a strong and inviting, updated presence. Prior to the redesign the entrance was not visible from the street, the light levels were low and the reception desk, directories and security systems were antiquated.
The new design incorporated a curved aluminum leaf ceiling spanning the entire length of the building's lobby acting as a reflector to a continuous light fixture mounted at the exterior horizontal mullion nine feet above the lobby floor. The exterior tie beams that obstructed the entrance were removed. In the lobby, the polished "Rosso Vagna" granite walls were acid washed and the "Loc du Bonnet" thermal granite floors cleaned. The feature walls were enhanced with custom designed tapestries, and new security and visitors reception desks were incorporated.
