National Financial Partners is located at the top of a prominent office building north of Times Square. The project's objective, completed in December 2000, was to convey a message of simplicity and fiscal responsibility. In addition, the space needed to be flexible to accommodate additional employees easily as the company grows, while maintaining the integrity of the design and maximizing its effectiveness.
The south, east and west sides of the floor are composed of a modular assembly of clear anodized aluminum frames, glass and sycamore doors. This assembly is crowned by a translucent fabric shade that diffuses the row of lights marking the entrance to the offices. Senior executive offices occupy the north quadrant of the floor. These offices flank the boardroom, which is the only transparent space on axis with the entry lobby.
Macasar Ebony wood panels emphasize the entry spaces along the north and south sides of the building. The combination of different tonalities of wood defines an organizational system that reinforces, with few components, an elegant and understated environment. The volume of space and simplicity in the design create the perfect backdrop for various art pieces on loan from The American Folk Art Museum.
